When
Anju talks with the others employees in Watabaran, she proves her
strong character. Her attitude is confident, and she can be very
energetic and convincing. She gesticulates when she talks and her
entire body emphasizes her words.
Anju has previously been a housewife and knew
nothing about paper production, but during a few moths as a trainee,
she developed the skills needed to become an employee and part-owner
in Watabaran. Gradually, she's grown with her responsibility, while
she's become more frustrated about the limited options for Nepalese
women. "It is still hard for women to advance and work, not
to mention initiating projects. The Nepalese society is a conservative
and regressive society," says Anju.
But in Watabaran, everyone's contribution is
valued equally. Anju is manager responsible for marketing and international
contacts. She hope to see a change in her society that will open
opportunities for other women to advance. She's very proud to be
working towards such a change. |
