Ramita
looks like a typical Nepalese woman; quite small and dressed
in the traditional Kurtha. But behind the surface hides a
strong and confident personality.
After eleven years at school, she'd been
working in her home ever since. But two years ago, she learned
to produce paper and learned about Watabaran. She joined as
a staff in the very beginning and have participated in a staggering
development. From working solely with producing paper in the
beginning, she's become responsible for Watabaran's economy
and bookeeping.
Ramita is quite different from most Nepalese
women. She is a self-confident woman, full of initiatives.
She knows that her knowledge is vital for Watabaran, and doesn't
hesitate to express her opinion, not in Watabaran, nor elsewhere.
In Nepal, not many women are responsible for a company's economy,
and it takes a lot for a woman to become accepted in an area
dominated by men. But Ramita seems to worry less: "If
I know what I'm doing, there's no problem. If I'm confident,
men can accept that I do business, but if I doubt myself,
I run into problems." |
